Architecture:Long center

My favorite photo is #1: This photo holds alot of power. Its a bit warped not because of the photographer but because of the building itself, which gives it more character. The light emphasizes the important parts of this photo. The composition is very well done. The only thing i would have liked(if its even possible) to see the bottom level as well.

Sports photo assignment

1. Name of photographer –Daryl Peveto

General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)-a mix of sports and stories with some commercial photos at the end

List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio – captions were bad, just said next and no a lot.

List two things the judges like-good balance of colors, good focus

What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like? Really nice black and white photos, with good contrast, their sports photos were not fantastic, and didn’t really show much emotion

2. What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it? How he is right in the action

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? great lines and angles, and emotion, some were a bit too photo shopped for me.

3. Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner. They went through all the portfolios and commented them as a whole, complimenting good photos and completely bashing the bad ones, yet looked as an overall portfolio.

Part 2
1.we both agreed that the portrait of the cheerleaders on the pool table was ridiculous and unnecesary. It was strange and odd and didn't fit together.

2.I disagree with the comment about the picture of the tennis player with his arms up. The racket that was flying in front that crossed over his arm was completely distracting to me and although they really liked it i couldn't get over the racket and it ruined the picture for me.

my story

The administration’s new creation of Tardy sweeps here at Akins, has caused much stir with the students by giving them harsher consequences for being late, in hopes of increasing attendance and participation.

The Tardy sweeps seem to do the exact opposite of what administration had hoped.

Robert Robles, Junior, says that “far too many,” of his friends have been caught in a tardy sweep at least once. Proving that the Sweeps are keeping students out of class longer than they would be originally.

Although most of the students are negative towards the sweeps, mainly the ones caught in them, some remain positive towards the sweeps, assuring the staff that it’s a good change.

One of those supportive students is Glen Cruz, Senior, who feels that if “your late you deserve to go to Saturday school,” and that Saturday school is very effective because “it takes your absences away.”

Yet in common conversation, sweeps are constantly brought up. Juniors Cecelia Munoz, Casey Oswald, and Christie Gonzales were discussing and came to little agreement about the subject.

All seemed to have negative opinions about them, Cecelia felt that the sweeps are “dumb,” Casey thinks they are “stupid,” and Christie said she is “not fond of the sweeps because it’s unfair for kids who are rarely late.” And when asked if they were effective all gave mixed opinions. Casey and Christie feel that “they are effective,” because Christie “now sees kids running to class and actually making an effort to be on time.” Although Cecelia says “no they are not.”

Out of the 5 people I interviewed only 2 of them have been caught in a sweep. So either the system is working or my interviewees are prone to timeliness.
